Micro Insert Molding

Micro insert molding is a process where a small insert is manually placed in a specific location within a mold before molten plastic is injected into the mold cavity. Once the mold is opened, the micro insert is combined with the cooled and solidified plastic to create a finished product.

Explain Advantages of Micro Insert Molding

1

Micro insert molding strengthens the bond between plastic and tiny inserts, enhancing the properties of the component.

2

The micro insert molding process is a high-value added molding method that can produce high-quality precision electronic parts and automotive components at low cost.

3

The micro insert molding technique enables the production of smaller and lighter components without compromising on their durability and properties.

The resultant micro insert molded parts are lighter, leading to improved fuel efficiency. This technique finds application in industries such as automobile

manufacturing and trucking.

How Does Micro Insert Molding Work?

Step 1

To begin, customize the mold to accommodate the micro insert. The micro insert can be placed by hand or by an automated process.

Step 2

Next, inject the melted plastic into the mold cavity.

Step 3

After cooling and solidifying, the plastic is combined with the micro insert.

Step 4

Open the mold and remove the part.

Step 5

Separate the part from the sprue and post processing.
